Lightweight, breathable and effortlessly cool — here's how to wear linen from beach to dinner.
Linen is the fabric of summer for a reason: it breathes, it drapes, and it only gets better with wear. Here are five easy ways to make it work all season — from the beach to a dinner you didn't plan for.
A relaxed linen shirt is the anchor of any warm-weather wardrobe. Keep it untucked and roll the sleeves.
Linen against linen reads flat. Pair the shirt with washed cotton, seersucker or raw denim and the outfit gets depth without adding a single degree of warmth.
Wrinkles aren't the flaw in linen. They're the proof it's doing its job.
Sand, oat, olive, faded indigo — pick neighbors on the same shelf of color and the look holds together even when everything is relaxed.
Linen wants one size of ease. Too tight and it creases at every joint; too big and it collapses. If you're between sizes, size up and roll.
Cold wash, line dry, skip the iron. Every wash breaks the fibers in a little more, and by August the shirt you bought in May is softer than anything else you own. That's not wear — that's the fabric arriving.
